How should I choose a suitcase?

Size

The first thing to pay attention to is the size. There are many kinds of luggage sizes, ranging from 16 inches to 30 inches, which can be selected according to the number of days of travel.

It should be noted that if you need to travel abroad, according to IATA regulations:

Size of portable case: the sum of the three dimensions of length, width and height shall not exceed 115cm (generally 21 inches);

Size of consignment box: the sum of length, width and height shall not exceed 158CM (generally 28 inches);

If the sum of the three sides exceeds 158CM, it needs to be transported as goods.

It will be easier if you only travel in China:

Dimensions of carry on luggage: length, width and height shall not exceed 55cm, 40cm and 20cm respectively;

The size of checked baggage: the sum of length, width and height shall not exceed 200cm;

For some low-cost airlines, such as Chunqiu, the upper limit of carry on luggage and checked baggage will be smaller. If you travel in these ways, you need to pay special attention.

Therefore, we say that the size is not necessarily good. When the box is large, you have to check it, and you have to wait in line for luggage. Waiting in line for luggage means that the car that picks you up has to wait for you, and the luggage you finally get may be broken by violent check-in.

Material

As mentioned earlier, big is not necessarily good, but light is also very important. Metal suitcases are cool, of course, but the heavier the empty suitcase, the less luggage you can carry, and the less hand mail you can carry on your return trip. Take the 21 inch chassis as an example. No more than 5kg is the upper limit we can accept. You won't want to exercise your biceps on the way to travel.

The materials of soft cases include leather, nylon, canvas, PU leather, etc; The materials of Hard boxes include aluminum magnesium alloy, PC, PP, ABS, etc.

Leather cases exist entirely for style. The strength and durability of leather are inferior to plastic, and the price is the most expensive. But just because it is so expensive and useless, it satisfies another consumption concept.

Nylon, canvas, PU leather

The performance of these materials of the soft box is not different. The box is malleable as a whole, which can hold more luggage and will not be damaged if it is squeezed during the check-in process. The scratch resistance of the outer surface is also very good, and daily use will not leave too many traces on it.

However, the disadvantage is that the waterproof effect is not as good as that of hard cases, and the protection of soft cases for internal luggage is not good, which is easy to be damaged by external extrusion.

Aluminum magnesium alloy

Aluminum magnesium alloy is great. Rimowa, the favorite of wanghong, is the representative of aluminum magnesium alloy. Due to the high ductility of the alloy, it is resistant to fall and exercise, and has the strength to resist the violent consignment of ground service. But the disadvantage is that it is self-sustaining, and it is very easy to scratch and dent, and it is also expensive.

PC(Polycarbonate)

The full name of PC is polycarbonate, which is the main raw material for making hard boxes. It has stable chemical properties, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and good deformation toughness. But the disadvantage is that the surface rigidity is not enough, which is very easy to scratch and destroy the overall aesthetic feeling. Of course, film can be applied.

The biggest advantage of the suitcase made of PC material is its impact resistance, not the impact resistance of aluminum magnesium alloy. Instead, when an impact occurs, the excellent toughness of PC can easily cope with it and restore it to its original state. Of course, this will not protect the luggage in the box in place.

PP(Polypropylene)

The full name of PP is polypropylene. Its performance is similar to that of PC, but its weight is slightly lighter and its elasticity is slightly lower than that of PC. the corresponding surface rigidity is also improved, and the protection of luggage is better.

The manufacturing process is mostly heated and shrunk, and the color inside and outside the box is the same. The cost of development and production is relatively expensive, and the unit price of products is also high. Therefore, suitcases made of PP material are rarely used in the market.

ABS(acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene)

ABS resin is a copolymer of acrylonitrile (a), butadiene (b) and styrene (s). ABS has the advantages of heat resistance and corrosion resistance of acrylonitrile a, elasticity and strength of butadiene B, and processability of styrenes.

By changing the composition ratio of the three components, various performances of ABS can be changed. Therefore, ABS is widely used in all aspects of our production and life, and it has also appeared in the keyboard selection guide we introduced before. The suitcase made of pure ABS has the advantages of high strength and scratch resistance, but it is heavier and less elastic.

Pull rod

At present, the pull rods of the pull rod box are generally built-in, so that the overall structural stability of the box is stronger, and the performance of falling and impact resistance is better. The external trolley case is very easy to be damaged in the process of use, and has been eliminated by the market, but it is guaranteed not to encounter unscrupulous merchants. If you do encounter it, don't buy it.

The selection of pull rod is very simple. The best one is aluminum alloy, which is light and solid.

At the same time, it's best to buy a double shot. Although a single shot is fashionable, delicate and beautiful, it will be more laborious in the process of dragging, and it still needs to spend more thought and effort to maintain balance.

Wheel

The wheel is the most important part of a trolley case, and it is also the most easily worn part. Support the weight of boxes and luggage when stationary; When towing, you should roll and deal with all kinds of exotic roads; It is also the most vulnerable to bumps during shipment.

The following points should be paid attention to when selecting wheels:

Double wheel universal wheel

Compared with the fixed built-in wheel, the universal wheel can be towed vertically more conveniently, and the trolley box should be straight from birth! But the disadvantages are also obvious, because it is completely exposed, and it is easier to bump and damage in the process of handling.

Universal wheels need to choose double wheels, which are more stable and easier to drag than single wheels.

Hard material

Generally speaking, hard wheels are better than soft ones. After the same service conditions and service time, the service life of soft wheels is much shorter.

Secondly, the wheel must be firmly fixed at the bottom of the box as a whole, and the wheel itself will not shake left and right.

Low noise

For suitcases, it is convenient for others as well as for yourself. It's always bad to disturb the neighborhood by going out quietly at night.

Therefore, it is very important to keep quiet when dragging the luggage. The sound of empty boxes is generally not loud when dragging. When trying to select, you can add some weights to the box slightly.

Size

From the perspective of daily use, the larger the wheel, the better. The larger the wheel, the more stable the sliding, and easier to deal with various road conditions; But in terms of durability, big wheels are also more likely to break.
